The
Mainstreet Art Center is a school of fine art in Lake Zurich, Illinois where
artists can develop their skills and share their passion for art. The school
offers classes in the fundamentals of drawing and painting, providing a
classical foundation in the principles of art from which to build upon. Students
of all ages, from 6 to 96, come together in their weekly classes to learn about
drawing, proportions, perspective, color and value. They learn portraiture,
still life, and landscape painting using a variety of media such as oils,
pastels and watercolor. The faculty of professional artists also present
workshops on specific topics such as plein air painting, figure drawing,
portraits from life, perspective drawing and palette knife techniques. In
addition, special workshops are offered featuring highly regarded visiting
artists from around the world.
