WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: In this three-day pastel workshop, you’ll discover different ways to create engaging pathways in your landscape paintings that lead the viewer through your composition evoking a sense of mystery and intrigue. Learn the importance of first creating thumbnail sketches to establish a pleasing overall composition and how building an underpainting will initiate a strong start to your landscape. Through clear instruction, we’ll break the painting process down into simple,manageable - helping you trust your instincts while making strong creative choices that will elevate your own work. The workshop includes a full pastel demonstration, plenty of one-on-one guidance, and a supportive group critique. |
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Brian first began working with pastels and oils while attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Since then, he has concentrated mainly on landscapes as his primary subject matter. As a passionate and dedicated professional artist, he enjoys mentoring and sharing his art experiences with others while watching them grow as artists themselves. He has achieved Master status in the Chicago Pastel Painters, is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and is a Master Circle Member of the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS).
