WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This painting workshop emphasizes the construction of the figure in oil with accurate representation using models. With a strong focus on composition, drawing, value, and edges. Students will use a limited palette as they develop their painting skills. You’ll learn to block in the figure using simple values, how to mix skin tones, and how to paint the figure in representational style. Refine your style and perfect your proportions each day. We’ll cover tools and tricks for helping you see shapes and values accurately. Brief lectures, handouts, and demonstrations will be given each day alongside personalized one-on-one instruction. Must have taken a figure drawing class previously.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

“Cookie” can’t remember when she was not drawing or painting. Directly out of college she began her career working for Hallmark in Kansas City; designing, illustrating and sculpting. After moving to Chicago, she worked for ad agencies and packaging companies, as well as drawing courtroom sketches for the Chicago Tribune and, now, CBS. Cookies loves working with fellow artists to share the lessons learned by a lifetime of study. Being continually inspired by other artists makes teaching an ongoing learning experience for both student and teacher.
