Mark Russell

Cold Wax Medium with Oils

Saturday & Sunday
 November 4 & 5, 2017
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$350.00

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Markís oil paintings focus on landscape and nature. While some paintings include representational elements he sees in a landscape, he mostly hints at shapes and color. The challenge is to filter and simplify what he sees and paints, to push objects and color to abstraction. Artists work with Cold Wax Medium and experiment with ways to incorporate this medium into their current oil painting practice. Cold Wax Medium offers a variety of methods to add texture, unique mark-making and layering to paintings. In addition to demonstrations, artists engage in hands-on exercises using traditional and non-traditional application and mark-making tools. The importance of composition, planning and editing in the painting process is discussed. This will give you the confidence to continue working with Cold Wax Medium. Mark is extremely positive and encouraging & provides constructive feedback. You must check out Markís PROCESS on his website to learn more. Beautiful.

Markís oil paintings focus on landscape and nature. While some paintings include representational elements of a landscape, he challenges himself to filter and simplify what he sees and paints. These paintings donít reflect a specific scene. Rather, his interpretation of a landscape and a distillation of memories of walks and travels. As a result, by design, each person sees the paintings with their own idea of place and emotion.
